Class Descriptions

World History

This year, we are covering world history from Johann Sebastian Bach (1708) to the global war on terror (2001-2014). We weave American history into the pages of world history for proper context.

Science

In Science, we are studying scientists who lived during 1656-1850. This study includes topics such as carbon dioxide, atomic theory, Celsius/Fahrenheit temperatures, conductors and insulators, evaporation, genera and classification, erosion, and inoculation. We focus on hands-on activities.

Language Arts

In this self-directed language arts class, we allow students to work at their pace using a series of workbooks tailered to their level. They build confidence and mastery through independent practice, with teacher support available for questions and enrichment.

Math

In this self-directed math class, students progress at their own pace using guided workbooks tailored to their skill level. They build confidence and mastery through independent practice, with teacher support available for questions and enrichment.

Latin

In our Latin class, students explore the roots of the English language through fun activities, stories, and simple Latin phrases.

Reading

Each reading level focuses on a series of classical literature books. Some of our books this year include Homer Price, My Side of the Mountain, The Magician's Nephew, The Hobbit, Anne of Green Gables, and more!
