Watch your child fall in love with learning again!
At Gryffin Learning Center, our elementary program blends strong academics, hands-on learning, and character development. Students learn in a small classroom environment where they receive individual attention and build a love for learning. We believe that mastering foundational academic skills in the elementary years prepares students for success in later studies. Through consistent practice and thoughtful instruction, students develop strong reading comprehension, clear handwriting and written communication, confidence in speaking and recitation, quick recall of math facts, and the ability to focus and think deeply.

Learning Center Schedule
Learning Center Schedule
Our kindergarten and grade school students participate in a tuition-based educational program that meets in person on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. We focus on six foundational subjects: Religion, Math, History, Reading, Science, & Language Arts. Some classes are divided and some are combined, allowing the older students to support the younger.
We believe children learn best in an environment that combines structure, curiosity, and encouragement. We emphasize creativity and mastery over rushing through material. Because our classes are small, students receive frequent interaction with teachers and develop strong friendships with their classmates.
Tuition does not include textbooks or the annual registration fee. See tuition & fee schedule.

At Gryffin Learning Center, we combine the strengths of classical education with a spiral curriculum approach to help students build deep and lasting understanding.
At Gryffin Learning Center, we combine the strengths of classical education with a spiral curriculum approach to help students build deep and lasting understanding.
Classical Education
Classical Education
Our program draws from the classical tradition of education, which emphasizes developing strong thinking skills and disciplined study habits. Students practice:
Memorization and recitation
Careful reading of quality literature
Clear handwriting and written expression
Logical thinking in mathematics
Discussion and narration to deepen understanding
This approach helps students strengthen their minds while building a love of learning.
Spiral Curriculum
Spiral Curriculum
Our curriculum is also designed to follow a spiral learning model. Instead of studying a topic once and moving on, students revisit important ideas over time, each time at a deeper level.
This allows students to:
Reinforce foundational knowledge
Build long-term memory
Connect ideas across subjects
Develop mastery gradually
For example, students may encounter important historical events, scientific concepts, or mathematical ideas multiple times as they progress through the program, each time gaining a deeper understanding.
Why This Combination Works
By blending classical education with a spiral curriculum, students benefit from both strong foundational skills and repeated exposure to important ideas, helping them retain knowledge and think more deeply about what they learn.

Meet our Teachers!
Meet our Teachers!
Jody Hanson is our history and American government teacher. She is passionate about helping students understand history because it is an opportunity to see how we connect with people throughout time. One of her favorite ways to teach is using food and cultural activities. She loves seeing - and helping students see - the hand of God throughout history. Jody is one of the founders of Gryffin Learning Center. She is a mother of seven and has 17 years of homeschool & microschool teaching experience.
Katie Bird is our science teacher. She loves teaching the kids that God is in the details. One of her favorite things is seeing all the kids raise their hands to ask questions in science. It means they are curious and want to understand how things work. She also loves creating lessons with hands-on activities every day. Katie is one of the founders of Gryffin Learning Center. She is a mother to four handsome boys and understands why movement and hands-on opportunities are so crucial for boys. She has been homeschooling for 6 years and micro school teaching for 4.
Sarah Church is our kindergarten teacher. She is the youngest of 6 kids and has watched her young nieces and nephews grow up over the years. She earned her Bachelors degree in Child Development from Brigham Young University-Idaho. When she's not teaching at school, she spends time with her husband, two children, and their dog.
"Teaching and spending time with young children has been fascinating to me as I’ve observed their language skills and their behavioral skills evolve and shape their personality."
Sidney Armstrong oversees student testing and personalized learning plans. She graduated from Brigham Young University with a bachelors in Elementary Education. She later received a Masters in Special Education from Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona. Her education also includes advanced certificates in curriculum creation and administration for special education. Sidney has been instructing and directing institutions of special education for over 30 years. Her vast experience and personal passion for special education has helped thousands of special education students learn and grow.
Why a Gryffin?
Why a Gryffin?
The mythological griffin is half lion (bringing strength and courage) and half eagle (bringing wisdom). We hope for our students to evaluate information with wisdom to find truth … and then to have the courage and strength to live that truth.
We spell it with a y out of respect for Godric Gryffindor 😉
